Primary Objectives of the Position:
This position will assist in multiple facets of human resources (recruitment, onboarding/offboarding employees, employee development, benefit administration, leave management and compliance) supporting the entire employee life cycle, fostering positive employee relations and company culture.
Major Areas of Accountability:
- Communicate regularly with supervisory staff to identify staffing needs.
- Lead in the recruitment and retention of the cooperative’s workforce.
- Post open positions, track and screen applicants, coordinate candidate interviews with hiring managers, and extend job offers.
- Coordinate new hire onboarding with department supervisors and safety team.
- Partner with the safety team in helping employees gain CDL licensures and endorsements.
- Foster a learning environment for student interns and high school on-the-job program participants.
- Enforce provisions in Employee Handbook.
- Coordinate FMLA and personal leaves of absence ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations.
- Assist with annual benefit enrollment, track eligibility and enrollment for all employees.
- Ensure the accuracy of benefit payroll deductions and benefit carrier invoices.
- Serve as a plan administrator for the cooperative’s 401(k) retirement plan.
- Contribute to HR initiatives that improve internal processes and policies.
- Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS system.
- Serve as backup to the bi-weekly payroll processing function.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of human resources experience.
- Post-secondary education in human resources, business administration or an agricultural field; or HR certification SHRM-CP preferred.
- Moderate knowledge of employment and payroll laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communications, organizational, and people skills.
- Elevated level of discretion, integrity and professionalism when managing sensitive information.
- This position is ideal for someone that works extremely well in a team setting.
- Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position.
Value-Added Qualifications:
- Previous experience with payroll and HRIS systems; experience with Paylocity is a plus.
- Cooperative experience or agricultural background is helpful.
Salary: $65,000-$90,000
While a salary range has been established for this role, the final compensation package will be tailored to the individual's level of experience and expertise.
