Job Summary

CUHSD is looking to fill a Career Technical Education (CTE) Automotive Technology Teacher position. To qualify, the applicant must hold or be eligible for a Career Technical Education (CTE) credential with a Transportation authorization. To qualify for a CTE credential: High School Diploma, 3 years of experience (48 units of education = 2 years experience). Candidate must have at least one year of actual work experience in the automotive field. Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is highly desirable. Ability to obtain within the first 6 months of employment will be considered. CUHSD is looking for enthusiastic and caring teachers to join our team. We're looking for individuals who will put students' needs first; who will work toward our mission and vision of preparing students for college and/or career; and who share in our core values of honesty, integrity, and respect. This is a part-time position that will teach 3 periods per day (60% contract) and will begin with the 2026-2027 school year.

New Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers who hold only a CTE or Designated Subjects credential shall receive credit for a maximum of eight (8) years of industry-related, full-time, paid experience for salary placement consideration as follows: *A teacher who does not hold a degree shall receive credit for those years exceeding four (4) years of experience. Example: A person without a degree and eight (8) years of documented experience will be placed on Step 5 * A teacher holding an Associate’s degree shall receive credit for those years exceeding two (2) years of experience. Example: A person with an Associate’s degree and eight (8) years of documented experience will be placed on Step 7 * A teacher holding a Bachelor’s degree shall receive credit for all years of experience. Example: A person with a bachelor’s degree and eight (8) years of documented experience will be placed on Step 9 At no time will a teacher be placed at a higher than step 9 upon initial employment. Full-time experience is no less than 1560 hours per year, verified by previous employer(s).
