What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Manager position at Central Transport?
Central Transport LLC is one of the nation’s most reliable and technologically advanced LTL (Less-than-Truckload) carriers to date. We are privately owned and have been servicing manufacturing & retail companies of all sizes for almost 90 years now. With over 200 locations around the country, we pride ourselves on the continuous expansions that we have made and are still making strides to improve our operation systems to better service our wide network of clientele. For example, we have recently implemented 25 next-day hubs in our network to provide immediate, essential services for our customers overnight. We also hold the industry’s most modern fleet with our tractors & trailers having an average age of 2.5 years old. Earlier this year, our business levels have reached the highest they’ve ever been; breaking our personal record that had been set the previous year. Shift Time: 1:00am-11:00am, Tuesday-Saturday
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Experience in transportation, consolidation, cross docking, or shipping and receiving environment .
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Desire to surround customer with excellence in service.
- High aptitude for technology.
- The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An Associates or Bachelors degree preferred, but not required.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure proper load of carriers by monitoring the cube and weight of trailers.
- Provide leadership and accountability to a team of switchers.
- Directing the flow of internal and external customer freight as it comes into the yard.
- Communicating and assigning trailer moves throughout the terminal.
- Oversee the placement and movement of tractor trailers within the lot while tracking and recovering inventory.
- Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/ OSHA standards.
- Ensure company operational model compliance.
- Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers.
Salary : $55,000 - $65,000
