Relationships
This position will be responsible for building and managing strong working relationships with both internal and external partners, including neighbors, donors, volunteers, partner agencies and all Food Bank teams. This position serves as a public face of the Food Bank’s neighbor, volunteer and visitor experience.
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

2 years in a high volume, in person, service-oriented role. Previous reception, customer service, or call center experience required.
- Spanish speaking skills to include verbal and written.
- Enthusiasm for providing exceptional customer service.
- Excellent demonstrated written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish (required).
- High-level interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds, maintaining excellent relationships with Food Bank staff.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive interactions including members of the public seeking food assistance.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and handle multiple, shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Slack (or similar platforms)
- Extreme dependability to manage inquiries from team members or visitors.

- Display a willingness and desire to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds.

- Provide excellent customer service to everyone who calls or visits the Food Bank.
- Answer calls and direct the caller to the appropriate department or individual - with a focus on asking clarifying questions to direct their call accurately.
- Provide callers with general information such as Food Bank location, directions, website and other related information. May assist callers with website navigation to find food.
- Maintain up to date information about team-member roles, events occurring at and/or benefitting the Food Bank, volunteer shifts, warehouse policies, office closures, etc. or know who to ask to find the answer questions.
- Welcome all visitors to the Food Bank and provide answers to questions, communicate to team members when visitors have arrived, direct food donations/pickups to rear entrance, and assist with other visitor arrangements as necessary.
- Receive incoming mail and packages and distribute items in a timely manner, ensure that outgoing mail is picked up daily and coordinate the pickup and delivery of express mail services
- Accept walk in donations (check and cash), issue receipts, provide in-person stewardship, and notify appropriate department when necessary.
- Manage internal coverage needs to include scheduling internal staff and deliver adequate training for staff to cover the desk as needed.
- Provide support/communication during volunteer check-in including assisting guests with registration and managing late volunteer arrivals.
- Create and maintain up-to-date written policies, procedures, and resources around reception workflow and other tasks, coordinating with the reception backup team to make sure all procedures are being followed.
- Work with Facilities to maintain the cleanliness of the reception and visitor waiting area; maintain organization’s Lost and Found.
- Limited additional administrative and community engagement tasks as assigned.

May be asked to assist in the coordination of site wide team member meetings, events and/or activities.
Working Conditions
- Hours of Operation: Generally, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., some evening and weekend hours may be required, especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidays.
- Environment: This position works in an open lobby setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, listening, talking and/or visual concentration, writing and/or computer use. The position requires independent work and daily interactions with internal team members and members of the public.
- Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas. Although regular travel is not required, periodic travel to the Austin location may be required for training, meetings, events, etc.
