Summary of Position
The Welding Instructor offers top-quality instruction in welding and fabrication through the Continuing Education (CE) division. This role provides hands-on and onsite classroom training in high-demand construction trades to a diverse group of community learners across the CTC service area.
The instructor is responsible for teaching industry-relevant welding techniques, ensuring safety compliance, and preparing students with the technical skills and knowledge needed for entering the workforce. This position involves travel to various training locations, including community centers, schools, and partner organizations.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent with five (5) years of welding experience required.
Associate degree in welding technology or related field preferred.
Welding certification or related credentials required CWE or CWI preferably through the American Welding Society.
Experience teaching or training adult learners preferred
Knowledge Skills and Ability
- Proficiency in MIG, TIG, stick, ARC, Acetylene, and flux-core welding techniques
- Strong understanding of welding safety standards and regulations
- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment
- Ability to effectively teach and mentor students of diverse backgrounds
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to welding equipment and processes
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing environments
Essential Functions
- Deliver classroom and hands-on instruction in welding techniques and safety practices
- Travel to various training locations to provide instruction
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Demonstrate welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, stick, and flux-core welding
- Maintain and inspect tools and equipment, performing basic repairs as needed
- Follow and implement the course syllabus and instructional plans
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support skill development
- Mentor and support students in developing workforce-ready skills
- Maintain accurate daily timesheets and instructional records
- Communicate with program coordinators regarding materials, equipment needs, and issues
- Collaborate with team members to ensure instructional quality and consistency
- Perform other duties as assigned
