Job Goal: To provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient facility.

Qualifications:

• High school graduation or equivalency.
• Prior satisfactory work or demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting on a regular basis.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Employment Requirements

Performance Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the opening of the building each day.
• Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and parking areas neat and clean at all times.
• Shovel, plow, and maintain walks, driveways, and parking areas as appropriate.
• Perform yard-keeping chores as grass-cutting, tree trimming, and the like as necessary, to maintain the grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• Perform minor building repairs as necessary, including roof, electrical, carpentry, plumbing and HVAC.
• Maintain on a regular schedule, all motors and other mechanical equipment requiring scheduled servicing. Operate all building mechanical systems. Check filter regularly.
• Order and maintain all custodial and maintenance supplies.
• Move furniture or equipment within buildings and between buildings as required for various activities and as directed.
• Know, understand and follow requirements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard.
• Conduct an on-going program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.
• Scrub, mop and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountain daily, as shared with 2nd shift Custodian.
• Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of repair and presentation.
• Conduct monthly inspections of fire extinguishers and emergency lights.
• Use all products according to instructions on labels.
• Comply with laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, waste and recycling.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Demonstrated ability to produce results through previous assignments. Ability to establish and maintain a favorable working atmosphere. Verbal and written communication skills, including communicating a positive attitude. Ability to function as a team member. Ability to demonstrate actions that support the agencies (AEA, LEAs, and other partners) and their missions. Maintain confidentiality related to agency, district, students, and family information. Demonstrated sensitivity and respect for diversity.

Physical, Mental and Visual Effort

Continuous speaking, hearing, and visual effort. Frequent walking, sitting, standing and reaching. Occasional climbing, kneeling, and transporting objects that may exceed 50 lbs. High degree of concentration requiring continuous and often intense mental and visual attention. Numerous irregularities, complicated and complex tasks are involved.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting. Frequently exposed to dust, noise, odors, and other irritants. Stress associated with work pace and pressure. Work may involve irregular hours and days. Some travel may be required. Exposed to hazards of the road when driving.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.75 - $24.50 per hour
