Job Title: Content Creator(Social Media Manager)
Location: San Diego, CA(Hybrid)
Duration: Contract position
Key Responsibilities
Social Listening & Cultural Engagement
- Continuously monitor social platforms, comments, and cultural conversations to identify emerging trends, audience behaviors, and engagement opportunities.
- Translate social listening, community feedback, and cultural signals into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Partner with creative and strategy teams to ensure real-time insights influence content development.
- Identify and execute timely trendjacking opportunities, determining when and how the brand should participate in relevant memes, trends, and conversations.
- Engage authentically with online communities while maintaining the brand's voice and integrity.
Content Creation & On-Camera Presence
- Serve as a primary on-camera personality for new brand social media channels.
- Conceptualize, create, film, edit, and publish original short-form and long-form content.
- Produce platform-native content, including on-camera videos, voiceovers, and reactive formats.
- Create content independently using self-shot and lo-fi production techniques.
- Partner with agency teams on larger campaigns and higher-production creative concepts.
Social Media Strategy & Channel Management
- Develop and execute social media strategies and editorial calendars.
- Launch and grow new social media channels from the ground up.
- Own day-to-day social media engagement and community interactions.
- Balance planned campaigns with real-time and trend-driven content opportunities.
- Translate cultural insights and audience behaviors into actionable creative briefs.
- Build brand relevance, community engagement, and long-term audience affinity.
Social Media Platforms
Experience across platforms including:
- TikTok
- YouTube
- Discord
- Threads
- X (formerly Twitter)
- Facebook / Meta
- Emerging social media channels
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Social Media Manager and/or Content Creator, with a strong portfolio of original, platform-native work.
- High proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects), or equivalent creative tools.
- Experience with social media management and listening tools such as Sprinklr, Plot, or similar platforms.
- Comfortable and confident appearing on camera, including directing and producing self-shot or lo-fi content.
- Exceptional copywriting skills with the ability to adapt tone, humor, and messaging across platforms and audiences.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, community management, and engagement best practices.
- Deep understanding of internet culture, trends, memes, and audience behavior.
- Ability to respond quickly to cultural moments without compromising brand integrity.
- Experience managing editorial calendars while remaining flexible enough to capitalize on real-time opportunities.
