What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager Plant position at CENTRAL PLAINS CEMENT COMPANY?
The salary range for this role is $185,000 to $205,000.
Nature and Scope
- Responsible for the day-to-day production, quality and environmental performance of the plant.
- Responsible for the health and safety of employees, contractors, and visitors to the plant.
- Responsible on a monthly and yearly basis for the plant's performance against the approved operating budget and forecasts.
- Works in conjunction with all department managers to identify opportunities for the development and execution of the strategic plans for operational improvement of the plant.
- Ensures compliance with Eagle Corporation's manufacturing doctrines.
- Ensures operating compliance with all governmental regulations and permits.
- Responsible for the development and achievement of monthly and annual cost budgets and forecasts for the plant.
- Responsible for working with all departments for the development of employees to achieve maximum contribution from each employee and fulfill succession planning requirements.
- Identify, assess, and resolve issues of your direct reports including coaching, and counseling on behavioral issues while serving as a role model and leader.
- Work in conjunction with maintenance to troubleshooting and resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance issues.
- Implements a positive employee relations program designed to maximize productivity of all employees.
- Reviews plant operating performances to ensure adherence to approved production schedules, quality standards, cost standards, shipping plans, and inventory levels. Develops and implements plans to deal with non-conformance to standards and commitments. Review of all departmental performance and actions being taken on a timely, frequent basis
- Ensure that all action plans are being executed and results are achieved.
- Assures Plant/Business Unit Objectives are achieved.
- Able to recognize the different aspects of day-to-day activities at the Plant that may have an impact on the environment. Strives for continuous environmental performance improvement, in conformance with the Eagle Environmental Policy, including:
- Reviewing and signing environmental documents, as the party responsible,
- Making compliance and permitting decisions, while keeping production and quality a priority,
- Review of changes in configuration of the plant, keeping in mind potential environmental impacts and permitting needs,
- Allocation of capital funds for continuous improvement of pollution controls,
- Cooperation with the Environmental Manager, to keep the plant in compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- They must spend a significant amount of time dealing with union issues and are heavily involved in the negotiation of the collective agreement every four years.
Specific Accountabilities
- Achievement of production and shipping commitments.
- Achievement of product quality commitments (MQOs).
- Achievement of cost commitments (budget and forecasts).
- Operating within operating permits (air, water, and waste).
- Achievement of outstanding safety performance, which is measured by MSHA incidence rate, MSHA S&S citations and Plant Safety metrics.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree or equivalent experience, Master's Degree in Business, or Engineering preferred
- Cement, lime processing and or mining operating experience
- Good communication skills
- Good team building skills
- Excellent planning skills
- Strong computer literacy with various software programs
- Excellent time management skills
- Effective follow up skills
- Over 5 years' experience in a managerial capacity which assumed responsibility for profitability and financial objectives.
