Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work across various specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient services, utilizing your comprehensive medical assisting skills to make a meaningful difference in patient lives. This position is Monday through Thursday 8-5 with occasional Fridays.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in diverse settings such as outpatient clinics, hospital units, or urgent care centers.
- Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient intake information accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort while maintaining a professional and caring demeanor.
- Perform clinical tasks including phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray imaging, and basic life support (BLS) as needed.
- Manage medical documentation with precision—updating medical records, coding diagnoses with ICD codes, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Support medical office management through appointment scheduling, patient follow-up calls, and maintaining organized medical records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or specialty clinics such as geriatrics or internal medicine to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; prior experience in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care or outpatient settings is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems), including EMR (Electronic Medical Records) management and documentation standards.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical-surgical procedures.
- Experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs collection, and basic X-ray procedures is desirable.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately across diverse patient populations.
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; inpatient or Level I/II trauma center experience is a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as emergency departments or hospital units requiring adaptability and teamwork.
