Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support animal care, assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, and ensure a clean and organized clinic environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for animal welfare and hands-on veterinary experience to contribute to high-quality pet care in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
  • Administer medications under veterinarian supervision
  • Maintaining cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas
  • Handle various species including dogs, and cats, utilizing animal handling skills and knowledge of animal physiology
  • Perform laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing, maintaining accurate records
  • Aid in pet care activities such as feeding, walking, and monitoring behavior to promote animal well-being
  • Assist front desk staff with client communication, appointment scheduling, and pet record management
  • Maintain a sterile environment by practicing proper aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheterization and medication administration
  • Support veterinary technicians with critical care tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience preferred; pet care or animal handling skills highly valued
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology essential for effective assistance
  • Experience with dog handling, equine care, laboratory procedures, and laboratory equipment is advantageous
  • Ability to perform animal restraint safely across different species including dogs and horses
  • Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • A genuine passion for animal welfare and commitment to providing compassionate care
