Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
- Willingness to learn the operation of grounds maintenance equipment and basic landscaping techniques.
- Must have reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to
- lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- follow instructions, work independently, and adhere to safety procedures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Basic knowledge of lawn care and landscaping, including the ability to identify common weeds.
- Experience operating basic lawn and landscape equipment, such as push mowers, string trimmers (weed eaters), hand blowers, or hedge trimmers.
- The Grounds Maintenance Student Employee supports the upkeep, appearance, and safety of campus grounds through a variety of landscaping and maintenance tasks. Working under the direction of Grounds Superintendent or designee, the student will perform duties such as mowing, trimming, mulching, weeding, planting flowers and shrubs, and operating landscape equipment.
- Students will receive hands-on training in groundskeeping practices and basic equipment maintenance, providing valuable experience in landscape maintenance and equipment operation. Previous experience operating lawn care equipment (such as push mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, and hand blowers) and knowledge of plant identification, weed recognition, or equipment repair are beneficial but not required.
