Job Description: The position is housed within the Curriculum & Instruction Department
and reports directly to the Director of Elementary Schools. The K-5 Lead Teacher position is an 11-month position that works closely with the C&I Department to support our elementary school initiatives, curriculum, and programming.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Meet regularly with the Director of Elementary Schools to create plans of action for curriculum and instruction;
- Development, facilitation, and support of professional development to build capacity and support fidelity of implementation of district and state initiatives, i.e., Fundations, Read to Achieve, MTSS, mCLASS/Amplify, NC Early Learning Inventory (NCELI), Science of Reading, iReady Math, shared reading and Wonders implementation, etc.;
- Provide updates, training, and resources regarding K-2 standards-based report cards, including collaboration with the School Information System (SIS) Coordinator to update standards-based report cards as needed in Infinite Campus;
- Support and provision of resources to instructional coaches to support district and state initiatives;
- Support and provision of resources to schools focused on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study in all subject areas;
- Provision of classroom observations, model lessons, coaching, and feedback in schools to support teachers and grade-level teams;
- Maintain elementary pacing guides and curriculum website information and resources;
- Attend professional development as needed to provide support and resources to the district;
- Provide Fundations training yearly and support as needed (requires becoming a certified Fundations trainer);
- Provide troubleshooting support for required assessment platforms: mCLASS, NCELI, etc.
- Attend and co-facilitate Elementary Principal and Elementary Instructional Coach meetings monthly;
- Co-facilitate Elementary Connect Team in collaboration with the Director of Elementary Schools;
- Facilitate professional book clubs to improve instructional delivery and build professional capacity;
- Lead ad-hoc committees regarding curriculum and instruction initiatives;
- Assist with district-wide curriculum activities to be determined by the Curriculum & Instruction Department;
- Assist with the completion of federal, state, and local reports.
Minimum
Experience:
- NC teacher certification with experience in appropriate grade levels;
- Strong organization, management, and leadership skills;
- Strong foundation in development and delivery of professional development;
- Knowledge of and desire to support the implementation of best practices; research-based programs, and the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for elementary grades/programs;
- Strong technology skills and successful experience in technology integration;
- AIG Certification or willingness to obtain within two years
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree preferred,
- Licensed to teach in NC,
- Minimum of 4 years of classroom teacher experience or a combination thereof;
- strong collaboration skills, and
- professional development experience required
