SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Primary Job Duties
To assist in a variety of specific duties which contribute to the effectiveness of the Special Education Department at Central Office.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION/JOB DUTIES
- Answering telephone, direct calls to appropriate contacts, and/or take detailed messages.
- Knowledge of fax machine and copier.
- Ability and knowledge to work in computer programs essential to the Special Education Department such as: EasyIEP, Skyward and Tabfusion.
- Ability to scan and upload documents.
- Knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office and maintain Spreadsheets with various types of information for the Special Education Department.
- TEIS (Tennessee Early Intervention Services)- includes contacting parents and Skyward enrollment.
- Child Find Referrals- includes contacting parents and Skyward enrollment.
- Homebound- gathering information from parents and physicians.
- Mail- includes checking the mailroom and mailing things for staff within the Special Education Department.
- Maintaining supplies in the Special Education Department conference room (i.e. silverware, plates, coffee, water, etc.).
- Ability to adapt to changes in schedule and flexibility.
- Must have the ability to work with a variety of multiple staff members, strong organization skills and multi-task.
- Must have ability to greet and maintain professionalism with a variety of people who may visit the Special Education Department.
- Essential requirement of daily attendance is necessary to support the daily function of this position.
- Perform other duties as deemed appropriate and assigned by building level supervisor.
Working Environment-EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associate’s Degree or certification is preferred; however, experience in demonstrating skills in an office setting, including knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic, is required.
