Union County Public Schools Central Office is currently seeking applicants for the position of Payroll Specialist. The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for processing payroll and related records for both classified and certified payrolls of the district.
Responsibilities include computing hours and pay for each payroll period, verifying and inputting data, and calculating and summarizing deductions such as withholding tax, retirement, and insurance. This position will respond to employee questions regarding the interpretation of laws, rules, regulations, and contracts governing district payroll, and assist employees in completing necessary documentation. Additional duties include monitoring changes in payroll-related data, preparing corrections or adjustments, notifying proper authorities, and computing annual vacation and sick leave allowances. The Specialist will also communicate with district and site personnel regarding time reports, warrants, insurance coverage, and leave time.
Qualified candidates must possess relevant experience in payroll and benefits administration and be comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative environment. Requirements include any combination equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law, along with two years of payroll accounting experience. Previous work experience in school finance is preferred but not required.
The Payroll Specialist is contracted for 235 days.
