What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional position at Central Office?
Summary
Perform tasks of a routine nature, general supervision, and management of students in order to assist the classroom teacher so they can focus more on teaching.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual who holds this position must:
-Assist in the implementation of the daily frogram under the direction of the teacher.
-Assist in planning and preparing the learning enviornment and preparing needed materials and supplies.
-Assist with the supervision of students
-Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behaviors/redirect as needed
-Perform clerical and general duties
-Perform any and all other duties prescribed by the classroom teacher and building principal as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education
-High School Diploma/GED
-Associate degree or 60 hours of higher education is preferred but not required
Knowledge
-Maintain confidentiality of student information
-Basic knowledge of appropriate student management techniques
Skills
-Treating all students with dignity and respect
-Maintaining professional attitudes
-Ability to relate well to students and adults
Physical Requirements
-May include physical tasks, i.e. lifting to assist physically handicapped students
