Cafeteria Worker

PRIMARY FUNCTION
A food service employee is a staff member who assumes the responsibilities and duties designed by the manager. The cook is supervised by the manager and performs such duties as:
- safe preparation and handling of food.
- cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities.
- serving of food.
- cashiering and record keeping.
- other work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions, either written or oral
- Willingness to work in any situation in the kitchen
- Emotional stability and physical fitness to perform duties at sufficient speed to carry out an effective operation
- Personal standards of appearance and dress commensurate with those required by food service
- Interest in food preparation and service
- Courtesy and tact in dealing with people
- Interest in children and school programs
- Desire to put forth best effort in all assigned duties
- Ability to perform moderate physical work efficiently with continuous standing.
- Ability and willingness to learn prescribed food preparation methods
- Ability to work with chemical agents
- Have strength to lift and carry food items or objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to withstand a wide range of temperatures
REPORTS TO
Each employee will report to their Cafeteria School Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform efficiently and to the best of his or her ability the duties assigned in relation to food preparation
- Attend training meetings as required
- Report to work at designated time and remain on the job until dismissed by the manager
- Notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work
- Maintain desirable relations between school and community
- Maintain pleasant working relations with fellow employees by showing consideration for others, patience, respect, self-control, and other desirable character traits
- Follow all policies of the School Board and instructions of the manager relating to safety measures, sanitation, practices, personnel standards, work techniques and methods of performing duties
- Perform duties involved in the safe preparation and handling of food, cleaning and sanitizing of equipment and facilities, serving of food, cashiering and record keeping
- Perform other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
180 days Salary according to School Board Pay Schedule
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with School Board policy and administrative regulations on the evaluation of non-licensed personnel.
