Position Title: Assistant Superintendent
Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
FLSA Designation: Exempt
Calendar: 12 month
SUMMARY: To assist the Superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services
REQUIRED: Superintendent Certification
PREFERRED: Central Office Administration Experience and/or Experience as a Lead Principal
The Assistant Superintendent will oversee Federal Programs as well as duties below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.
- Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may direct
- Assists in the determination of types of programs needed by the district and makes appropriate recommendations
- Reports on the status of district programs and services at the request of the Superintendent
- Plays a significant leadership role in educational planning and training for the staff
- Serves upon assignment by the Superintendent as a resource person to other district administrators
- Interprets the programs, philosophy and policies of the district to staff, students, and the community at large
- Maintains liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the schools
- Communicates to the Superintendent the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff members
- Prepares state and federal reports and claims as required
- Plays a significant leadership role in fostering professional growth and building of staff morale throughout the district
- Confers with district administrators on matters of concern
- Works well with both supervisors and other members of the team
- Maintains consistent and punctual attendance
- Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: Supervises staff members as the Superintendent may designate

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree or equivalent; previous successful experience in teaching and administration (ten years preferred)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Oklahoma Superintendent Certificate
