Job Summary:

Under broad supervision from the Director of Office of Classification and Transportation Services provides oversight and management of classification and transportation units. Directly supervises Program Coordinators who manage and monitor the screenings for all committed and Superior Court sentenced youth. Directly supervises Operations Analysts who ensure appropriate classification for youth statewide. Serves as Superior Court liaison with Georgia Department of Corrections for coordination of youthful offenders. Coordinates with other administrators in other units to ensure effective operation of classification and transportation services.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide 24/7 on call coverage and oversight of the OCATS Unit when director is unavailable.

  • In coordination with the Director of the OCATS develops policy, procedure and written guidance for implementation of classification and transportation services statewide.

  • Directly supervises Program Coordinators and Operation Analyst positions who ensure appropriate classification and release for youth statewide.

  • Monitors staffing to ensure that units are staffed to provide support services statewide and oversees implementation of contingency plans and recruitment to address identified deficiencies in staff coverage.

  • Develops and implements quality assurance processes to ensure effective implementation of assessment and classification for youth using evidence-based or evidence-informed practices appropriate for the youth served by this agency.

  • In coordination with the Director of OCATS, monitors units expenditure and provides data to substantiate requests for budget changes.

  • Serves as a member of the OCATS leadership team to coordinate and plan Strategic goal planning for the unit.

  • Coordinates with the Office of Training to plan and implement OCATS Professional Development training opportunities and other professional education workshops for staff.

  • Consults with the Office of Legal Services and Investigations as requested.

  • Participates in any special projects to both internal and external customers to the agency.

  • Provides consultation to both internal and external stakeholders with regards to the assessment and Classification of committed youth.

  • Serves as Liasion with the Georgia Department of Corrections regarding the processing and transferring of youthful offenders.

  • In coordination with the Director of OCATS serves as point of contact for judicial officers and law enforcement officials.

  • Completes all Specialized Training required (example – SAVRY).

  • Assists with HR functions to include interviewing and hiring for vacant positions.

  • Assists with personnel actions when needed.

  • Participates with weekly detention monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Or seven (7) years of related professional experience which includes three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory role.

  • Or three (3) years of experience required at the lower level Mgr, Business Ops (GSM010) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with systems of care within child welfare agencies.

  • Experience and working knowledge of judicial court procedures and system.
