Position Summary
The CNM tutor is someone who provides academic guidance to students in several subjects. Each tutor works one-on-one or in small groups to help students improve their understanding and performance in specific areas. Tutors assist with homework, teach study skills, review class materials, and provide personalized instruction. Some tutors specialize in subjects such as math, science, language arts, or test preparation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist students in reviewing course material and problem-solving.
- Contribute to a supportive, cordial learning environment.
- Coordinate workshops and study groups for students.
- Conduct marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
- Serve as a communication link and faculty liaison.
- Guide students in selecting and using material to meet learning needs.
- Maintain a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments.
- Maintain instructional materials (e.g., textbooks, calculators, software, etc.).
- Collect and analyze data.
- Participate in required tutor training.
- Provide management in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor as delegated and assist TLC Management with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring, and retaining new peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors.
- Perform other similar duties and level as assigned.
- Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of thirty (30) hours of postsecondary course work to include a minimum of nine (9) hours in the specific discipline; content courses must be completed with a grade of B or better.

- Direct experience tutoring adults in college level Chemistry & Biology
