Position Summary
The Financial Aid Technician assists students and families in navigating the financial aid process. You will provide information on available financial aid programs, helps complete application forms, verifies eligibility, and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations. The technician maintains accurate records, processes financial aid awards, and provides ongoing support to students regarding their financial aid options and responsibilities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate daily activities of assigned financial programs with staff and outside agencies to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.
- Review and process student scholarship applications and supporting documentation for participation in financial aid programs and monitors scholarship deadlines and ensures availability of scholarship applications.
- Ensure applications comply with federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
- Evaluate student academic records for satisfactory progress to determine continuing eligibility for financial aid programs and reviews and approves continued eligibility for financial aid programs and applications for financial aid deferments.
- Use student funds management system for entering, auditing and accessing data.
- Help with other processes within Enrollment Management and Student Success.
- Be an operational resource to other staff and students and provide information, in person, on the telephone, and email to students, prospective students, and families about student financial aid.
- Ensure compliance with all Title IV regulations regarding aid eligibility.
- Help with workshops and/or presentations to students, parents, and other parties on financial aid information.
- Complete mandatory training on compliance on federal, state, and college requirements
- Audits accuracy of detailed information and detect data errors.
- Employees are required to comply with safety regulations, procedures, protocols, OSHA standards, and wear personal protective gear if required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and two (2) years related experience.
- Experience as a student employee is considered.
- A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements of the position.
- This is a Part-Time position that will support the Scholarships team as well as Student Employment.
