What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Manager position at Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services?
JOB DEFINITION:
The Facilities Manager to support our Director of Facilities in overseeing day-to-day operations, vendor coordination, and project management. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with deep experience in facilities management and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must own a basic set of tools and be comfortable with hands-on work
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong technical aptitude; experience with CMMS or work order management systems preferred Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented and proactive with a strong sense of accountability
- Must have knowledge of basic construction, HVAC, plumbing and electrical
- Experience working with external contractors and vendors
- Familiarity with safety and compliance standards (OSHA, etc.)
- Background in construction, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical is a plus
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in assigning and managing work orders to ensure timely completion
- Completing high-level work order requests (Hands on work) and escalate issues as needed
- Coordinate and attend vendor walkthroughs and site visits
- Support vendor relationships, including onboarding and performance follow-ups
- Keep the project board current with active initiatives and deadlines
- Ensure work orders and maintenance logs are up to date and well-documented
- Attend meetings and provide updates on facilities operations and projects
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities
- Conduct monthly maintenance inspections of three sites
- Perform bi-weekly supply list walkthroughs of three sites to ensure inventory and readiness
- Identify and implement quality improvement trainings and activities as part of professional development goals
- Encourage quality improvement processes and provide consistent resources for QI and professional development
