POSITION SUMMARY
This Position/job description connects with the overall statements contained in the employee handbook,
the personnel policies and procedures, departmental manuals and policies, and job analysis’ as written
by CMMC staff. According to the details of the established policies, procedures, and department
manuals, all duties are performed according to the criteria/standards assigned to these duties and
responsibilities as outlined in the individual position evaluation form.
Cardio-Pulmonary Care
The Manager of Cardiopulmonary Care reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The Manager of
Cardiopulmonary Care directs and coordinates all activities concerned with Cardio-Pulmonary Care
relating to Respiratory Therapy, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Hemodynamic Monitoring, Diagnostic
Testing in Cardiology and Pulmonary Medicine, Airway Management, Mechanical Ventilation, All
aspects of Emergent Critical Care, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Noninvasive Monitoring. In addition,
the Manager must also have a broad spectrum of knowledge for inpatient and outpatient reimbursement.
The Director must strive to reduce the overall cost of patient care while improving quality. The
position Director of Cardio-Pulmonary Care must also perform all supervisory and management
functions concerned thereof.
Sleep Lab Services
The Manager of Sleep Lab Services is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer. The Sleep Lab
Services Manager directs and coordinates all Sleep Lab Services Care activities relating to Sleep Lab
Services. In addition, the Manager must also have a broad spectrum of knowledge to accreditation and
reimbursement. The Manager must strive to reduce the overall cost of patient care while improving
quality.
The position Manager of Cardio-Pulmonary Care and Sleep Lab must also perform all supervisory and
management functions concerned thereof.
Supervision Exercised/Received
The Manager of Cardio-pulmonary Care and Sleep Lab Services reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Work is assigned by the Chief Operating Officer, Medical Direction, and physician orders. The Chief
Operating Officer reviews performance. The Manager directly supervises staff Registered Respiratory
Therapists, Staff Certified Respiratory Technicians, and Registered Polysomnography personnel.
Scope and Effect of Decisions/Comments
The Managers decisions, effects of the positions and duties of others, a consequence of errors can be
significant and negatively impact patient care.
The Manager of Cardio-pulmonary Care and Sleep Lab Services must work within their limitations.
Any situation the Manager feels is outside their scope shall be referred to the appropriate personnel. The
Manager shall consult with Medical Direction and the Chief Operating Officer where deemed
appropriate. The Manager shall contact relevant people on any errors within the department. The
consequence of errors is reviewed by the Medical Director and Chief Operating Officer.

Minimum Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required:
Education: Must be a graduate of an A.M.A. Respiratory Care program
Must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
Licensure: Must have a Montana Respiratory Care Practitioner License
Must have a minimum RRT certificate.
Valid Montana Driver’s license
Certification: Advance Cardiac Life Support
Neonatal Advance Life Support
Pediatric Advance Life Support
Experience: Minimum of 5 years clinical experience. 1 year of supervisory experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

4 Develops and demonstrates effective communication tools to disseminate information and to

5 Participates in meetings and events as required or requested. This includes manager meetings and
Morning huddles
6 Completes required productivity reports in a timely manner.
7 Perform all of the modalities of Respiratory care as outlined in the policy and procedure manual and
the AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines.
8 Provides clinical expertise and back up to CPC, physician and nursing staff on difficult or technical
procedures and situations.
9 Coordinates and develops and maintains Charge systems for CPC and SLS.
10 Coordinates/develops Quality assurance and risk management for CPC, SLS.

11 Maintains and updates policy and procedure manuals for CPC, SLS. Writes/ revises / interprets the
policy and procedure manual to staff
12 Evaluate equipment/supply needs for department and delegate responsibilities for inventory as
appropriate. Maintain only necessary inventory.
13 Oversees employment selection and disciplinary process. Assures appropriate continuing
education, orientation and programs are offered and attended to meet required standards.
14 Collaborates with all other CMMC Departments in a way that supports the overall mission of
CMMC
15 Maintains and is accountable for tracking and keeping informed on all Radiology Service contracts
16 Evaluates purchasing sources and contracts for equipment, supplies, and to assure quality and cost
effectiveness. Coordinates acquisition of supplies with the hospital purchasing department
17 Develops annual operation, capital, statistical, and FTE budgets for submission to CMMC
administration. Ensures operation within budget and adjusts work processes for ongoing cost
reduction
18 Collaborates with other Health service providers including but not limited to Billings Clinic
Affiliates to ensure quality patient care.
19 Remains current on what technology offers in regard to CPC, SLS.
20 Remains updated on computer hardware and software. Has the ability to understand and utilize a
basic spreadsheet, database and word processor.
21 Answers questions and concerns of the CPC, HME and EMS Services to the public.
23 Coordinates implementation of new therapies and diagnostic testing.
23 Monitors payroll, staffing, and overtime requirements.
24 Communicates regularly with physicians and staff to answer technical questions, resolves inquiries
or concerns, provides information on new services, charges, or CPTs, and educates on medical
necessity and compliance issues
25 Designs, maintains, and generates charge master
26 Educates nursing departments, physicians, and staff on therapies and diagnostic testing order Entry
and report retrieval in the HIS
27 Participates on hospital committees and task forces as required or requested.
28 Maintains safety training and ongoing compliance with regulations. Coordinates evaluations and
education with other CMMC departments to assure hospital staff activities are consistent and
compliant
