Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Classification: Non-Exempt
Department: Aging
Reports to: Aging Division Director

Summary/Objective

The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Coordinator is responsible for the administration, coordination, and implementation of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). The incumbent recruits, enrolls, assesses, and monitors eligible participants; develops Individual Employment Plans; recruits and supports host agencies; provides employment and job-readiness services; ensures compliance with federal and state regulations; maintains program records and reporting requirements; and promotes the transition of participants into unsubsidized employment opportunities.

Essential Functions

1. Recruit, screen, assess, and enroll eligible applicants into SCSEP.
2. Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Employment Plans (IEPs).
3. Coordinate participant placement into community service training assignments.
4. Recruit, evaluate, and maintain relationships with host agencies and training sites.
5. Provide job-readiness training, coaching, and employment assistance.
6. Monitor participant progress through site visits and documentation.
7. Meet with participants and host agency supervisors to evaluate progress.
8. Encourage and assist participants in obtaining unsubsidized employment.
9. Develop partnerships with workforce agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
10. Provide technical assistance to host agencies.
11. Maintain participant files, payroll records, timesheets, and documentation.
12. Maintain participant and program data in GPMS and other required systems.
13. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and grant requirements.
14. Assist in resolving participant and host agency concerns.
15. Conduct outreach activities and recruitment efforts.
16. Prepare reports, performance measures, and required documentation.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, work will occur primarily in an office environment; however, travel to host agencies, participant worksites, workforce partners, and community locations is required.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and arms. The employee may occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel Requirements

Frequent local travel is required. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be necessary.

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in human services, gerontology, sociology, human resources, social work, counseling, or a related field and one (1) to two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience leading workshops or presentations is preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aging programs, policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Ability to effectively plan, coordinate, administer, and assess program activities.
  • Familiarity with community-based agencies in the service area.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and program databases.
  • Valid Mississippi driver's license.

Salary : $42,000 - $45,000
