What are the responsibilities and job description for the CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER position at Central Minnesota Mental Health Center?
Brief Description
Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Certified Peer Specialist to work in Buffalo (Sherburne & Wright County) area. This position is responsible for providing individual peer support and group services for individuals with serious mental illnesses and individuals in recovery for substance use disorders, who receive services under the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC).
WHAT IS PEER SUPPORT?
Non-clinical specialists provide support and hope to individuals by sharing their stories and serving as role models for wellness by offering the perspective of similar significant life experiences.
Certified Peer Support Specialists have the lived experience of someone with a mental or chemical illness and, from that vantage point, help you discover your strengths and develop your own recovery goals. The specialist's personal story and path to recovery provide tools, skills, and information to share with those going through similar struggles. CMMHC’s Certified Peer Specialists work with individual clients and groups.
CMMHC’s Certified Peer Specialists are designed to help individuals build practical skills for daily living, emotional wellness, and community integration. While Peer Support is rooted in lived experience and mutual understanding, our program also mirrors the structure and goals of Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services (ARMHS) by focusing on skill development and recovery-based support.
