JOB SUMMARY
This position will assist in day-to-day management related to patient care and staff workflows to ensure effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.
Reports To: Perioperative Director and/or CNO
Supervises: Departmental Staff
Classification: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in Nursing required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or Compact state.
Minimum of 3 years previous management experience in a hospital setting.
Certification in area of specialization preferred. Current PALS and ACLS certification
Demonstrates excellent communication skills.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist in guiding and directing nursing staff regarding safe, effective patient care, problem-solving and decision making according to patient needs, staff capabilities and facility resources.
2. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of new procedures, products, equipment and standards of care used in acute care nursing.
3. Interviews, orients, assigns work schedules, conducts and reviews evaluations and disciplines personnel to manage performance. Oversees nursing functions in conducting annual performance evaluations and competency documentation.
4. Implements agreed staffing patterns to maintain productivity budgetary projections.
5. Assist in investigating and initiating follow-up and corrective action when necessary in response to complaints and/or concerns from patients, families, physicians or employees. Develops, implements and monitors, methods and strategies to achieve high patient satisfaction results.
6. Is familiar with, and maintains unit compliance with, all regulatory agency requirements, including, but not limited to CMS, DNV and Louisiana Department of Health.
7. Collaborate with Nurse Manager and leadership team to implement departmental goals, strategic priorities, and quality improvement initiatives.
8. Maintains compliance with accreditation/licensure requirements.
9. Responsible for continuously assessing and improving the performance of care and services provided within the department.
10. Identify clinical operational needs; manage appropriate level of equipment and supplies and monitors equipment maintenance. Assess the environment and make recommendations to ensure optimal patient comfort, safety and compliance with various regulatory bodies (OSHA, DNV, etc.)
11. Maintains all clinical skills for practice within respective department.
12. Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.
