What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Music Director position at Central Lee Community School District?
Position Summary:
The Music Director will play a vital role in the development and delivery of the district’s vocal and instrumental music program, working across multiple grade levels. This position includes leading beginning and intermediate band classes, assisting with junior high and high school band, choir and show band ensembles, and supporting students in individual and group performance opportunities. The assistant music director will also contribute to curriculum planning, concert coordination, and program administration.
Primary Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties include but not limited to:

Assist with instruction, rehearsals, and performances of the instrumental program.

Assist with instruction, rehearsals, and performance of the vocal program.

Teach 5th Grade Band and Individual Lessons, establishing fundamental music skills.

Teach 6th Grade Band and Individual Lessons, reinforcing and expanding instrumental techniques.

Co-direct both the Junior High and High School Show Bands, including rehearsals and live performances.

Prepare students for and facilitate their participation in the High School and Junior High Solo and Ensemble Festival.
Administrative & Program Support include but not limited to:

Maintain and update the curriculum map for all music courses taught, ensuring alignment with district and state standards.

Assist with planning, organizing, and executing concerts and hosting music events, including logistical and performance aspects.

Help manage and maintain the department’s instrument and equipment inventory, including repairs, assignments, and organization.

Maintain a collaborative working relationship with the music boosters and collaborative directors.

Support the planning, execution, and successful completion of fundraising activities.
