Status: Full-Time (260 Days
Reports To: District Superintendents and CIESC Director of Administrative Supports

Position Overview:
The Northern Hamilton County College and Career Specialist supports Hamilton Heights and Sheridan students in meeting Indiana graduation requirements by providing career coaching, employment connections, work-based learning opportunities, and postsecondary planning. This position works collaboratively with school counselors, CTE coordinators, staff, local employers, and postsecondary institutions to directly help students successfully transition to employment, enrollment, and/or enlistment.
Direct Student Support & Coaching
- Guide students in meeting Indiana graduation requirements, specifically focusing on Employability Skills and Work-Based Learning (WBL) expectations.
- Facilitate direct placement for Northern Hamilton County Academy students into relevant work-based opportunities.
- Provide individualized career coaching, including résumé assistance, interview preparation, and workplace readiness training.
- Collaborate with district-level staff to assist students in exploring certifications, dual credit, workforce training, and two-year degree pathways.
Partnership & Community Development
- Establish and expand work-based learning opportunities, including job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and post-graduation employment.
- Convene and lead a community advisory board to develop and sustain long-term industry relationships.
- Serve as a liaison between local colleges, technical schools, training providers, and regional employers to bridge the gap between education and industry.
- Support community partners by implementing the systems and processes necessary to maintain high-quality, safe, and effective student work experiences.
Strategic Coordination & Operations
- Identify and mobilize internal and external stakeholders to align district efforts with regionally-identified career pathways.
- Execute district-wide career engagement events, including career fairs, college visits, employer panels, and school-sponsored networking events.
- Manage the tracking of student graduation and seal requirements in coordination with district-level staff.
- Ensure alignment between district-level work-based learning goals and school-level implementation for counselors and administrators.
Requirements
- Experience with community outreach and the ability to engage and collaborate with school and community representatives toward a shared vision.
- Master’s degree or equivalent on the job experience preferred.
- Program management and grant implementation experience preferred.
- A general understanding of the Indiana Career Coaching Framework, and familiarity with College and Career Readiness, School Counseling Standards and Employability Skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain successful, productive working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels (superintendents, professional organization leaders, businesses, district personnel, principals, coaches, school counselors and high school students).
