Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute criminal cases by conducting legal research, drafting motions, and presenting evidence in court depositions and trials
- Provide legal counsel to law enforcement agencies, government officials,
- Draft, legal briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents with precision and clarity
- Negotiate plea agreements, settlement terms, and other resolutions to facilitate efficient case management.
- Conduct statutory legal research using resources such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies
- Represent the state in court proceedings related to Juvenile law, Traffic Law, Criminal Misdemeanors, and some areas of governmental civil law
- Participate in trial preparation by organizing evidence, preparing witnesses for court depositions, and developing litigation strategies that align with procedural law requirements
- Communicate effectively with clients, law enforcement officers, victims, defendants, and other stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of case developments and legal options
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction
- Demonstrated skills in legal writing, drafting motions, contracts, and other legal documents
- Experience with legal case management systems such as LexisNexis or Westlaw for research purposes.
- Prior Juvenile law experience preferred; familiarity with court depositions and trial preparation is highly valued
- Salary commensurate with experience
