- Under general supervision to perform all work involved in distribution or transmission cable maintenance, construction and repair on primary and high tension cables when not extremely complicated; to do complicated jobs under supervision; to assist a Splicer - First Class; to direct the work of other employees helping him/her and to do related work as assigned.
Required
- Evidence of successful completion of the requirements for graduation from High School or an Equivalency Diploma and at least one year's experience as a Splicer - Third Class or equivalent.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of all Company cable and underground practices and standards
- Must know the general layout and characteristics of the underground distribution and transmission system
- Must be able to work on energized conductors
- Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers Class A
- Must maintain a valid Commercial Drivers Class A restricted (truck/trailer combo only - O restriction) license and obtain the metal coil endorsement within 12 months of entering the classification
- Evidence of physical fitness shall be required and at the Company's option must be demonstrated by medical examination by a doctor selected by the Company
- Valid driver’s license
- Understand checking, phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits
- Ability to connect polyphase transformer installations
