What is a Manager – Reliability Compliance?
The Manager - Reliability Compliance is responsible for ensuring corporate adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements set forth by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC), and New York State Reliability Council (NYSRC). This role involves developing, maintaining, and administering policies and procedures to guarantee compliance. This position requires active participation in industry forums and regulatory bodies, as well as close collaboration with internal teams to foster a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
What does Manager – Reliability Compliance do?
- Develops, maintains and administers policies and procedures to ensure corporate compliance with all applicable Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) and New York State Reliability Council (NYSRC) requirements.
- Coordinates company efforts associated with all On-site, Off-site and Spot Check Audits, Periodic Data Filings, Self-Certifications and Self-Reports.
- Coordinates with Legal and Subject Matter Experts for the mitigation process and addressing potential reliability requirement violations.
- Follows, and responds to, when necessary, all FERC and NERC reliability-related Orders and Directives.
- Participates in and supports industry-wide reliability compliance activities.
- Provides guidance to Standard Owners and Subject Matter Experts.
- Participates in the development of new and revised NERC Standards.
- Represents the Company in the NERC, NPCC and NYSRC arenas.
- Reviews, recommends, procures and implements tools to streamline the corporate reliability compliance efforts.
- Fosters a strong culture of compliance throughout the Company by recommending and implementing new and innovative methods of keeping all areas of the Company current with compliance matters.
- Provides supervision and technical leadership and development of the Analyst(s) assigned to the Reliability Compliance Department.
- Provides support for storm restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Manager – Reliability Compliance?
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering with 3 years of related work experience in electric transmission/distribution planning, protection, and/or operations
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to develop clear, concise, and audit-quality documentation
- Must possess strong data gathering and analytical skills and recognize the importance of meeting deadlines
- Must also possess strong organizational and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong working knowledge of CIP and O&P Standards
- Strong working knowledge of Utilities - Gas and Electric System
