Salary Grade: Nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. |

General Summary: The K-12 Dyslexia Teacher ensures that all students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, independent, and responsible citizens in today's society. |
|
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures. • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons consistent to and aligned with district curricula. • Possess and deploy various instructional strategies in order to meet different learning styles as well as specific needs of students assigned to him or her. • Stay abreast of changes in standards, curriculum documents, resources, and trends in education. • Utilize and integrate appropriately student use of technology in the classroom. • Assess, record, and report the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of all students. • Embrace an attitude of being a continual learner, facilitator of learning, and a reflective practitioner. • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to provide a safe learning environment for all students. • Communicate regularly with parents and/or guardians about student progress, behavior, or needs. • Be an active participant in collaborative planning, intervention, conferences, meetings, and assistance teams both at the building and district levels when appropriate. • Use a variety of assessment tools to assess and gauge student progress, identify student needs, and extend learning. • Maintain proper and correct records and all timelines according to district, state and federal requirements in regard to student grades, attendance, and IEP progress if applicable. • Ensure fairness and impartiality in all matters relating to students. • Provide supervision for students at all times when students are assigned or entrusted in one’s care. • Engage in professional development to strengthen personal practice. • Develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships.
Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. |

Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree required; field of study correlated to teaching assignment as a K-12 Dyslexia Teacher with the appropriate licensure code. Teachers with experience are valued; however, no prior experience is required. • Commitment to ensuring academic success for all students • Experience working in a rural setting • Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred • Ability to read, interpret, and apply student performance data to instructional planning and execution • Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills |
