Join our dedicated team as a Child Nutrition Worker, where you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, balanced meals to children in an educational setting. This job schedule is from 6:45 AM to 2:45 PM Monday-Friday. The job is a 10 month position, functioning with the school calendar (August-May), but paid equally across 12 months so no checks are missed during the summer months outside of school.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and safety standards
- Assist with food handling, portioning, and presentation to ensure appealing and healthy servings
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas, including sanitizing surfaces and proper disposal of waste
- Support students during mealtimes, encouraging good manners and fostering a welcoming atmosphere
- Follow food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination or accidents
- Assist with inventory management by stocking supplies and notifying supervisors of shortages
- Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth meal service operations during busy periods
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food service, catering, or the food industry is highly desirable
- Background in child nutrition programs is a plus
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with children, staff, and visitors
- Knowledge of food handling safety standards and sanitation procedures is preferred
- Experience working in a restaurant or hospitality environment is beneficial
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to health regulations
- Demonstrated teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards supporting colleagues and students
