Title: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner FLSA status: Exempt Personnel Supervised: N/A POSITION SUMMARY: Conducts comprehensive health assessments, demonstrating a high level of autonomy and expert skill in the diagnosis and treatment of complex responses of individual, families, and communities to actual or potential health problems. Formulates clinical decisions to manage acute and chronic illnesses and promote wellness. Integrates education, research and management, leadership and consultation into clinical role and functions in collegial relationships with nursing peers, physicians, professionals and others who influence the health care environment. MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse / Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner training
- Active Florida license
- Psychiatric Mental Health Board Certification is required
- Experience with Geriatric age patients- Child and adolescence is a plus
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Spanish speaking is preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years is preferred but not required
- Establishes therapeutic relationships in order to facilitate the patient’s progress with treatment goals.
- Provides psychiatric evaluation, determines diagnoses and prescribes appropriate treatment as indicated for a variety of psychiatric conditions, and obtains consultation from collaborating physician when appropriate.
- Develops and maintains psychotherapy skills to meet the needs of a diverse population.
- Keeps informed about current research and knowledge and applies it to patient care.
- Utilizes the DSM in making diagnostic formulations.
- Integrates bi-psychosocial information into single, shared electronic medical record.
- Performs and documents psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up.
- Enters progress notes into the medical record.
- Reviews laboratory tests, reporting abnormal results to the appropriate provider.
- Provides direct individual (ages 5 and up), family, and group therapy.
- Provides consultation to CFHC providers.
- Keeps accurate time record of activities.
- Provides on-call services, as required.
- Carries out responsibilities in a highly professional manner and in accordance with professional and
business ethical standards. - Demonstrates highly effective interpersonal communication and conflict management skills.
- Ensures that all members of CFHC staff and administration have access to all appropriate information.
- Facilitates a positive, open, supportive work environment.
- Demonstrates flexibility, creativity and adaptability in job performance.
- Returns patient phone calls. Based upon the assessment of the patient’s needs, providers recommendations for safety, support and follow-up.
- Maintains clinical records and procedures that comply with State licensing requirements and professional standards.
- Is current with and follows agency, program, organization and professional standards of conduct, professionalism and quality of service.
- Complies with infection control, occupational and health standards and all rules, regulations and operating plans issued by CFHC, the Occupational and Safety Health Act and JCAHO.
- Understands Continuous Quality Improvement principles and incorporates them into daily work.
- Accepts supervision and guidance.
- Exhibits flexibility when asked to perform other duties.
- Maintains strict confidentiality regarding all client and agency information according to policy. A
professional relationship with all staff, clients and volunteers is maintained at all times. - Maintains up-to-date training and certification in Basic Life Support.
- Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of organizational goals
and objectives through a commitment to teamwork. - Conforms to acceptable attendance and punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook.
- Complies with all safety rules and protocols. Reports all accidents, regardless of severity, immediately to supervisor and completes incident/injury report and investigation form, which will be forwarded to
Human Resources within 24 hours of incident. - Abides by the organization’s compliance program and its requirements.
- Current on all required training for current year.
- Performs all other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
Salary : $20,000 - $75,000
