What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Data position at Central Falls School District?
The Central Falls School District seeks an innovative, energetic, bold educational leader to join our team of administrators. This position will be responsible for managing internal and external data requests, managing data flow between computer systems, leading the district’s data governance, and ensuring all mandated state and federal reporting requirements are met. This critical work will ensure timely, accurate data are at the fingertips of decision-makers across the district.
This position reports to the Central Falls School District Chief Academic Officer.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage Data Requests
Identify, categorize, and manage internal and external data requests to ensure timely, accurate, and appropriate fulfillment.
Support the development of reports, analyses, dashboards, and data extracts in response to district and school-level needs.
Ensure accurate and timely state and federal data reporting (i.e. RIDE reports, CRDC)
Oversee Data Systems & Integrations
Lead and manage districtwide data integrations and system interoperability (e.g., SIS, LMS, online learning platforms), ensuring accurate, timely, and secure data flows.
Provide oversight and direction for all student information systems, including SIS administration, configuration, maintenance, and updates.
Supervise technical support, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination to resolve service disruptions and accessibility issues to ensure smooth operations across student-facing systems.
Maintain learning platform rostering and access for educators
Lead Data Governance
In collaboration with others, identify/determine the critical data needs of district leaders, principals, and teachers to enable them to make the best decisions impacting students
Design and execute a strategy for maintaining clean and accurate databases
Develop and standardize business processes to enable accurate entry of critical data into the district’s systems
Analyze and Visualize Data
Develop replicable code to acquire, integrate, clean, and analyze data for a multitude of analysis and reporting projects
Apply statistical methods to assessment, survey, and other administrative data to develop descriptive and inferential results
Design data reports and dashboards that provide district leaders with the information they need to make data-driven decisions in a timely manner
Visualize and write-up results in slide decks and decision memos for key stakeholders
Assume other duties as may be delegated by supervisors
Translate state accountability metrics and technical manuals into clear actionable guidance for school and district leaders.
Oversee Staff
Oversee and support Brown UEP interns in data projects that catalyze improvements in CFSD while also supporting the learning of possible future CFSD team members.
Oversee Student Systems Specialist by providing supervision, support, and professional development.
Work with school and district leaders, school secretaries, and other district staff to understand and utilize data and student management systems
