What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Services: Lead Lifeguard position at Central Education Campus?
Reports To
Aquatics Center Coordinator & Fitness and Aquatic Center Supervisor
Essential Job Functions
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
- Able to act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
- Attends mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled
- Maintains a clean facility performing house cleaning duties
- Assists Lifeguard personnel with knowledge of policies and procedures as well as departmental goals and objectives
- Assists in the new lifeguard orientation process
- Occasionally assists with inservice training
- Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the Aquatics Coordinator
- Assist Aquatics Coordinator as requested

- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and/or stamina to effectively rescue victims, administer first aid, and CPR;
- Ability to perform work, which involves frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects;
- Ability to hear and distinguish a variety of sounds in a noisy environment such as participants in need of assistance, whistles, or co-workers requesting assistance in a rescue effort;
- Ability to see patrons in need of assistance from any distances;
- Ability to speak loudly to warn program participants of impending danger
- Experience
- Preferred: Age 17 years or older
- Required: Previous lifeguard experience
- Additional Requirements
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (required)
- Working knowledge of lifesaving techniques
- Strong swimming and life saving abilities
Schedule and Location
Shifts vary Monday through Sunday at the New Prague Fitness and Aquatic Center. This position would include approximately 20 hours per week in the summer. Potential for some hours throughout the school year.
Training
Attendance at monthly/bimonthly staff trainings is required.
