All initial attorney positions to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month (temporary) basis. This position may be extended or made permanent without further competition.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Security Requirements: Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.

(or equivalent) legal or other relevant experience. The United States Attorney's Office for the Central District of Illinois (CDIL) is seeking to fill two Assistant United States Attorneys positions (AUSAs), one in the Moline, IL office and one in the Peoria, IL office. Both positions are in the criminal division. The selected candidates will be involved in the investigation and prosecution of a wide variety of federal criminal cases, including violent crime, crimes against children, immigration, human trafficking, drugs, national security, firearms trafficking, and white collar crime. AUSAs work in cooperation with their colleagues, as well as federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
