This is an ideal opportunity for recent graduates and professionals interested in Human Resources, Benefits Administration, HR Operations, or Employee Benefits. No prior benefits experience is required—we provide comprehensive training and mentorship to help you build a successful career.
As a third-party administrator (TPA), CDS partners with employers to administer employee and retiree benefit plans. You'll gain real-world experience supporting health benefit enrollments, COBRA administration, retiree billing, eligibility, compliance, and participant communications while developing knowledge that translates directly into a career in Human Resources.
What You'll Learn
At CDS, you'll receive hands-on training in many of the core functions performed by HR Benefits professionals, including:
- Employee and retiree benefits administration
- COBRA administration and compliance
- New hire enrollments and qualifying life events
- Benefit terminations and eligibility changes
- Reading and interpreting Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs)
- Working with insurance carriers and employer groups
- Retiree and COBRA premium billing
- Claims research and issue resolution
- Maintaining confidential participant records
- Understanding benefit plan rules and compliance requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Process new enrollments, coverage changes, qualifying life events, and terminations.
- Assist participants, retirees, and employer groups by phone and email with questions regarding eligibility, benefits, enrollment, billing, and claims.
- Learn to administer COBRA benefits in accordance with federal regulations.
- Review Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and other plan documents to determine eligibility and benefit provisions.
- Maintain accurate participant records and update benefit information within our administration system.
- Research and resolve discrepancies involving eligibility, claims, billing, and enrollment.
- Process retiree and COBRA premium billing, payments, adjustments, and refunds.
- Work collaboratively with insurance carriers and employer clients to ensure accurate benefit administration.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous customer service, administrative, HR support, healthcare administration, or data entry experience is helpful but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- A desire to learn Human Resources and employee benefits administration.
