The Bridgeport Y, a branch of the Central Connecticut Coast Y, is seeking a caring and dedicated SAAC Teacher to join our early learning team. This position supports the mission and work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization. The SACC Teacher at the Central Connecticut Coast YMCA provides direct supervision and leadership to a group of children in a school age child care program, where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. The SACC Teacher is responsible for providing a program that fosters children's social, physical, spiritual, and mental growth. The SACC Teacher assures the well-being for each participant in line with YMCA of the USA guidelines and association policies in accordance with their training.
Essential Functions:

Models YMCA core values in all interactions.

Builds positive relationships with participants, families, volunteers, and staff.

Assists in planning and delivering program activities in alignment with YMCA standards.

Communicates clearly and professionally with supervisors, staff, and parents.

Maintains clean, safe, and organized program areas and equipment.

Provides active supervision, staying alert and engaged at all times.

Follows all emergency procedures and completes required reports.

Enforces YMCA policies, including child protection and the Rule of Three.

Acts as an ambassador for YMCA programs, promoting engagement and inclusivity.

Adheres to all Child Care health, safety, supervision, and documentation requirements.

Attends all required meetings and trainings.

High school diploma or equivalent, or 540 hours of experience working in Early Childhood Education (required)
- Classroom experience with preschool-aged children and knowledge of child development best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to foster a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Must complete OEC background check and fingerprinting within 30 days of hire
- Physical exam and TB test required at hire and every 2 years
- CPR/First Aid certification required within 6 months of hire (Medication Administration certification preferred)
- Must meet ongoing professional development requirements as outlined by OEC
