Job Title: Speech Coach
Job Type: Part-Time/Seasonal
Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Coach to lead and develop our high school speech team in accordance with the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) guidelines. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive environment for students to enhance their public speaking, acting, and performance skills while preparing them for individual and large-group speech competitions.
Responsibilities:
- Coach students in various IHSSA speech categories for both large group as well as individual season.
- Organize and lead regular practice sessions, offering constructive feedback and skill development.
- Oversee competition preparation, including script selection, speech writing, and performance techniques.
- Coordinate team registration and travel for IHSSA contests.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages student growth and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, progress, and expectations.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in speech, drama, communications, or a related field.
- Experience coaching or participating in speech or theater(preferred).
- Ability to mentor and inspire high school students.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of IHSSA rules and competition structure (or willingness to learn).
