Secondary Professional School Counselor
The Central City Community School District is accepting applications for a 7-12 grade Professional School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year. The 7-12th grades have approximately 150 students. This position may be configured per the desire of the selected candidate, ranging between .5 to 1.0 FTE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
Participate with the Building Leadership Team to positively impact culture and help build academic success for all students.
Provide feedback and recommend appropriate actions and solutions for academic and social-emotional needs of students and supports for teachers to ensure student success.
Advises and counsel students regarding academic, educational and social emotional problems.
Assist students and parents in understanding school policies and procedures.
Assist with the set up and administration of state testing and other research-based assessments.
Provide academic support to students taking post-secondary classes through Kirkwood.
Provide academic guidance for students, including post-secondary planning with students and families.
Maintains on-ongoing, open communication with parents.
Assist with building needs, including maintaining student information system, scheduling and other duties to ensure student and parent information access.
Participates in on-going in-service and educational development opportunities provided by the district.
Staff must believe in and act in accordance with the district’s mission statement.
Serves as School Registrar.
EDUCATION / SKILLS & ABILITIES
Professional School Counselor license
Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall Positive and professional attitude/disposition.
Ability to use a computer
Ability to effectively plan, organize, and implement educational curriculum.
POSITION DETAILS
Continuing contract position.
Compensation will be based on the Teacher Salary in the Master Agreement.
