Job Summary
Central Christian Church in Jonesborough, Tennessee, is seeking a full-time Senior Minister to lead the church into a new era of growth and service, following the retirement of their Senior Minister of 20 years. Central Christian Church has long been an integral part of the community and remains committed to spreading God’s word and serving the surrounding area. We are an independent Christian Church associated with the Restoration Movement. Our average attendance is approximately 60 on Sunday mornings. The ideal candidate will be a gifted communicator, experienced in coordinating worship services, and committed to fostering a vibrant community of faith in Jesus Christ. The Senior Minister is expected to create and maintain positive relationships with Christians and non-Christians. Responsibilities include all aspects of ministerial care and administrative duties, as described below. The Senior Minister reports to the Elders of the Church.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Spiritual Leadership: Preach inspiring sermons, teach biblical doctrine, and provide spiritual guidance to the congregation in conformity with our biblical beliefs.
Pastoral Care: Conduct pastoral visits, offer counseling, and support members through life transitions.
Church Vision: Engage in the vision, mission, core values, fruit of the Spirit, and the four healthy missional markers of Central Christian Church. These markers are 1) the Centrality of the Word of God, 2) Practicing a lifestyle as described in Practicing the Way, 3) Support for global and local missions, and 4) Active in community outreach.
Leadership Team Oversight: Collaborate with staff, Elders, and ministry team leaders to oversee church operations and ministries.
Community Engagement: Actively participate in local community initiatives and represent the church in interfaith dialogues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
· A degree from an accredited College or University in theological study such as a Master of Theological Studies (MTD), a Master of Divinity (MDiv), or similar program is preferred, or at least three and a half years of experience as a Senior Minister
· Sound interpersonal skills, excellent ability to build relationships, listen attentively, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds to understand their needs and aspirations
· Time management and organizational skills to achieve annual goals as established in collaboration with the Elders
· Strong moral character with a deep, personal relationship with God
· Skill and heart for sermon planning and preaching
· Passionate for continued spiritual education and growth
· A strong desire to shepherd others spiritually
