Location: Columbia, SC | Position Type: Full-time, Exempt

Reports To: Vice President of Advancement

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Advancement Officer will be instrumental in driving the Foundation’s philanthropic endeavors, focusing on deepening engagement and nurturing relationships with the Foundation’s donors, Legacy Society members, and professional advisor partners. The Advancement Officer will be responsible for cultivating Fundholders and delivering exceptional service. Additionally, this role will lead the Foundation’s efforts to attract and steward contributions that support the Foundation’s mission work, initiatives, and grantmaking. This role requires a highly organized and proactive individual with outstanding interpersonal skills, a strategic mindset, and a commitment to meticulous execution, all contributing directly to the Foundation’s continued growth and mission.

 

Key Responsibilities

Fundholder Engagement and Stewardship

  • Implement comprehensive engagement and stewardship strategies for new and current Fundholders, and Legacy Society members, including managing and executing Fundholder events and coordinating with the Executive Assistant & Board Liaison (e.g., Fundholder Appreciation Drop-In).
  • Lead and manage the professional advisor’s engagement program & strategy to expand and enhance its impact, including professional advisor database maintenance & research.
  • Cultivate and manage a portfolio of assigned Fundholders by developing and tracking unique engagement plans to deepen their philanthropic partnership with the Foundation.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and leverage opportunities, build awareness, and foster value-added engagement, facilitating meaningful experiences for Fundholders.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for current Fundholders providing high quality support and inquiries.


Fund Development for the Foundation

  • Develop and implement strategies to promote opportunities for fundholders and donors to support the Foundation and its impactful grantmaking initiatives.
  • Lead the strategy and execution to steward and engage fundholders and donors of the Foundation.
  • Create and execute the Board and Friends annual appeal.
  • Serves as the liaison to the Director of Communications and Public Engagement, collaborating on and providing content for key communications, including year-end giving campaigns and Giving Tuesday initiatives.  
  • Assist in developing and executing communication to Fundholders, professional advisors, and community members.


Administrative Support to the Advancement Team

·       Serve as the Advancement Team’s representative for special Foundation initiatives.

·       Provide essential backup support to the Advancement Team as needed.

·       Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, customer service, or financial services.  
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service with professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, and care.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage and build rapport with a wide range of constituents.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and openness to adopting innovative technologies.
  • Strong organizational, strategic thinking, and independent problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle to use in performance of job.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.

 

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $60,000 to $65,000
  • Benefits: This position is eligible for benefits including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, health savings account, and a 6% retirement benefit contributed by Central Carolina Community Foundation.
