What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Central California SPCA?
- Assists Facilities Manager in the repair and/or installation of various items, systems and/or components as may be required (e.g. broken windows, roofs, building structures, floors, hand rails, stairs, lighting systems, HVAC units, electrical units/service.)
- Assists with painting tasks as directed by the supervisor for the purpose of maintaining attractive facilities and minimizing damage.
- Cleans and performs minor repairs of gutters, drains and scuppers for the purpose of maintaining operation and adequate drainage.
- Assists the supervisor in installing system components parts on property and facility components as may be required for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
- Maintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Responsible for locks and door closers, keys, electrical plugs, lighting, A/C, filters, plumbing, leaks and repairs.
- Assists Facilities Manager with supply room inventory, distribution, and recording keeping.
- Transports and assists with set up at offsite events.
- Assist with landscaping repairs including sprinklers.
- Respond to problem calls for printers and computer technical issues by communicating with online Technical Support.
- Assists with light duty restroom cleaning
- Assists with audio/visual equipment set up.
- Assists with pickup and transport of donated products.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be over the age of 18 to apply.
- Must have a valid CA drivers license and a clean driving record. Must be able to drive a high clearance cargo van and tow small trailers.
- Six month experiences in maintenance field required.
- Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating equipment used in skill trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, sprinkler repair, and fluorescent lighting. Basic computer knowledge required. Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read and follow instructions and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Computer hardware repair or computer support experience is a plus.
$17.50 to $26.00/hour depending on experience.
