Pay Range: $32.50 - $34.89

Work Days/Hours: 40 hours per week

Reports to: Director of Hospital Services

Work Modality: Onsite

Location: Jenny Eller Donor Center, Fresno, CA 


Job Summary

The Process Excellence Coordinator leads compliance, efficiency, and continuous improvement for Hospital Services at Central California Blood Center. Reporting to the Director of Hospital Services, this role oversees validation activities, document control, training/competency programs, equipment, and audit readiness.

As a liaison to Quality Assurance, the Medical Director, and regulators, the coordinator ensures procedures and clinical practices meet current standards and remains audit ready. The role supports frontline operations, trials, validations, standardization processes, coach staff, and drive accountability for safe, consistent, high-quality blood processing.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous process improvements across Hospital Services, using KPI, QIR, industry standards, and frontline feedback to streamline workflows, standardize SOPs, and align training tools with best practices. 
  • Partner with department leadership to investigate QIRs, perform root cause analysis, and develop/implement CAPAs to prevent recurrence and strengthen compliance.
  • Lead operational validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) and implementation of new equipment/procedures in collaboration with Quality Assurance, the Medical Director, vendors, and Hospital Services leadership. 
  • Maintain SOPs, COPs, Forms, Job Aids, training/competency materials, and serves as the SME/System Administrator for MediaLab (automated version control, approval workflows, access rights, etc). 
  • Coordinate Hospital Services training (onboarding, retraining, procedural education) in conjunction with department leadership and ensure compliance with required training completion and document acknowledgments. 
  • Oversee readiness, QC, use, and maintenance of equipment and analyzers to meet safety, validation, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Serve as primary liaison to Quality Assurance, the Medical Director, and regulatory partners (FDA, AABB, state) in support of compliance, audits/inspections, and investigations; provide timely, accurate documentation and validation materials. 
  • Maintain audit-readiness, documentation systems, including validation logs, training records, tracking tools, and reporting to support quality assurance and operational transparency. 
  • Provide operational oversight for trials/research, special collections, ensuring protocol adherence, compliant clinical processes, documentation, and audit readiness in partnership with Donor Services, Quality Assurance, and the Medical Director.

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

Education/Licenses/Experience 

  • Required- Valid California moderate complexity testing licensure. Examples include:
  • MLT- Medical Laboratory Technician
  • CLS- Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • CIS- Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist.
  • 3 years of experience working in blood bank industry, in a management or management-track position, or comparable experience, highly preferred.
  • Experience in audit, inspection, SOP development, or people training, highly preferred.
  • Experience with patient management/blood management software, preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA and AABB regulations and standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook/email).
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to provide clear direction, delegate, support, and coach to develop a high performing team.
  • Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be socially/culturally/ethnically perceptive and responsive.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to confront difficult situations in a timely, professional, and constructive manner.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to read and comprehend industry publications, regulations, SOP’s, and written procedures.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., desk work, meetings). 
  • Occasional standing and walking 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, using a mouse, and operating standard office equipment 
  • Close vision for reading reports, screens, documents, spreadsheets, and emails.

  •   Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  •   Extreme Cold/Freezers
