Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity is seeking an energetic,
organized, and hands-on Construction Crew Leader / Volunteer Coordinator
to help build affordable homes while leading and inspiring volunteers on
active construction sites. This role is ideal for someone with
Residential Construction Experience Who Enjoys Teaching Others, Solving
problems, and working with people from all backgrounds and skill levels.
POSITION SUMMARY Working Under The Direction Of The Construction
Manager, the Crew Leader coordinates daily construction activities,
supervises volunteers, maintains a safe and productive worksite, and
assists with construction planning and site logistics. When the
Construction Manager is off-site, the Crew Leader may help coordinate
subcontractors already engaged by Habitat and ensure work progresses on
schedule. The Crew Leader does not hire subcontractors or hold
purchasing authority but plays a key role in on-site coordination and
Communication. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Volunteer Leadership &
Engagement - Lead and supervise volunteers on active construction sites,
creating a welcoming, inclusive, and positive experience. - Teach basic
construction skills and safe work practices; match volunteer abilities
with appropriate tasks. - Encourage teamwork, quality workmanship, and a
culture of safety and community engagement. - Support Habitat homebuyers
completing partnership equity hours and serve as an ambassador for
Habitat\'s mission. Construction Site Operations - Assist with daily
construction activities including framing, siding, trim, insulation,
painting, and flooring on new home and rehabilitation projects. - Help
maintain project schedules, quality standards, and organized, clean job
sites. - Assist with punch list completion, project closeout, and
permitting support. Site Coordination & Logistics - Assist the
Construction Manager with subcontractor coordination, material staging,
and site logistics. - Communicate project status, site needs, and
scheduling concerns; monitor deliveries and report shortages. - Help
prepare sites for upcoming work phases and Volunteer Group Days. Tools,
Equipment & Safety - Maintain tools and equipment in good working order;
assist with inventory and organization. - Conduct routine safety
inspections, enforce OSHA and Habitat safety standards, and ensure
volunteers are properly trained on tool usage. QUALIFICATIONS Required -
2-5 years of residential construction experience with working knowledge
of common practices and hand/power tools. - Ability to read plans and
follow construction specifications. - Strong interpersonal and
communication skills; ability to teach and mentor volunteers with
varying skill levels. - Ability to work independently, make sound field
decisions, and lift 50 lbs in varying outdoor conditions. - Valid
driver\'s license, clean driving record, ability to drive company truck
And Has Reliable Transportation. Preferred - Experience Supervising
volunteers, crews, or apprentices; experience with affordable housing or
nonprofits. - OSHA 10 or 30 certification and/or First Aid/CPR
certification. - Experience with snow removal, winter weather care, and
