Location: The Bedford Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and annual leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Teacher of Business to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Teacher, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Teaching, Learning & Student Development – Deliver engaging, high‑quality teaching that develops students’ knowledge, skills and curiosity, helping them reach their full potential.
  • Curriculum Planning & Delivery – Plan, prepare and deliver structured lessons, creating a positive learning environment and contributing proactively to curriculum development.
  • Assessment, Progress & Achievement – Provide timely assessment and constructive feedback, track student progress and contribute to improving retention and achievement outcomes.
  • Student Engagement & Enrichment – Organise extracurricular activities, trips and events to enhance the student experience, while supporting parent engagement through reports and evenings.
  • Professional Practice & College Contribution – Participate in CPD, promotional events and college activities, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and institutional standards.

About You

  • Qualifications & A Level Teaching Expertise – Degree in a relevant subject with a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed), supported by current experience teaching A Level students in a Sixth Form or FE setting.
  • Teaching Excellence & Learner Outcomes – Demonstrable success delivering high‑quality teaching, creating outstanding learning experiences and achieving strong student progress, retention and attainment.
  • Curriculum Knowledge & Innovative Practice – Up‑to‑date subject and syllabus knowledge, with effective use of ILT to enhance teaching, alongside a proactive approach to curriculum development and improvement.
  • Communication, Teamwork & Professional Relationships – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build strong relationships with students, colleagues and stakeholders while contributing positively to team objectives.
  • Professional Values, Safeguarding & Adaptability – Committed to safeguarding, equality and continuous development, with high integrity, resilience and flexibility to work under pressure across multiple sites and meet changing demands.
