A strategic leadership opportunity for colleagues across the Group
Following The Bedford College Group’s appointment by the Department for Education as the cross-regional Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC), we are creating a senior leadership role to provide national strategic oversight of this important portfolio.
This post offers an opportunity for an experienced leader within the Group to play a key role in shaping the future direction of construction skills provision across regions, while contributing to the wider leadership of The Bedford College Group.
The Director of CTEC will bring together activity across multiple CTEC sites and partners under a shared vision, coherent strategy and consistent standards, while maintaining a clear focus on quality, learner experience and progression.
About The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director of Curriculum, the Director of CTEC will lead the development and delivery of a national CTEC strategy and delivery plan, aligned to Government priorities, regional labour market need and the Group’s strategic objectives.
The role involves working closely with Heads of School, Curriculum Managers and senior colleagues across the Group to ensure CTEC activity is high quality, employer-led and impactful, while enabling local leadership teams to respond flexibly to regional need.
The post holder will also act as the Group’s lead representative for the CTEC portfolio, building and maintaining relationships with employers, sector bodies, professional institutes and skills agencies, and representing the Group at regional and national forums.
This is a role focused on strategic coordination, system leadership and assurance, rather than day-to-day operational management.

You may already be leading a complex curriculum area, service or portfolio and be ready to step into a role with broader strategic reach, or you may have experience of working across multiple sites or programmes and want to influence practice at scale.
You will bring strong leadership experience within education, training or construction, a sound understanding of curriculum quality and improvement, and the ability to work confidently with senior internal and external stakeholders. A values-led leadership approach and a clear commitment to learner experience, inclusion and progression are essential.
Teaching or management qualifications are welcome, but the Group is particularly interested in leadership capability, strategic thinking and alignment with our organisational values.
