Key Responsibilities
Processing Duties:
- Review and verify HELOC application documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Order and evaluate third-party services (e.g., credit reports, title work, appraisals, flood certifications).
- Communicate with applicants, loan officers, and internal departments to gather missing information and provide status updates.
- Prepare loan files for underwriting and ensure timely progression through the pipeline.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines.
- Analyze credit reports, income documentation, asset statements, and property valuations to determine borrower eligibility.
- Apply lending guidelines and risk assessment criteria to approve or deny HELOC applications.
- Document underwriting decisions clearly and concisely, including rationale and conditions.
- Collaborate with processors and management to resolve complex loan scenarios.
- Stay current on regulatory changes and internal policy updates affecting underwriting standards.

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in mortgage or HELOC processing and/or underwriting.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of lending regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, ECOA).
- Proficiency in loan origination systems and document management platforms.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment.
