What are the responsibilities and job description for the GENERAL FACILITIES LABORER position at Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired?
CABVI is seeking a full-time General Facilities Laborer to assist with all aspects of CABVI building maintenance, operation of machinery and vehicles.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS
Performs routine building maintenance and repair tasks. Such tasks include, but are not limited to, maintenance and remodeling tasks (e.g. carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing).
Grounds Maintenance – Maintains CABVI grounds in clean, safe, and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, weeding, minor pest management, cleaning debris from grounds, pathways, and parking lots
Maintains grounds maintenance equipment; pruning trees and shrubs and snow removal as needed.
Assists the Facility Manager and/or Facilities Mechanic in repair of CABVI equipment.
Maintains safe working standards and regulations.
Performs the duties of a building maintenance assistant as needed.
Performs as back up for the janitorial staff and assists in cleaning as needed.
Adapts to change and completes other duties as assigned by manager.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to climb a ladder and work at height up to 30 feet above the ground or floor. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the key job elements.
EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
H.S. Diploma/ GED. Should have at least one year of building and machine maintenance experience. Must have and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license. Must be forklift certified & have the ability to operate forklifts in a safe and responsible manner. Must be able to pass a federal background check.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
In-house position with travel as needed. Noise level is moderate to loud. Must be available for evening and weekend work dependent upon Agency need. Must be able to work in other locations as needed. The work will include inside and outside in all types of weather conditions.
