Schedule: Part-Time (3–5 hours/day, weekdays; additional hours as needed)

Program Dates: May 26-29 (staff orientation & training week June 1–26 and July 6–24, 2026

Compensation: $15–$20 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Executive Overview

Central Alabama Marines-Council is seeking an energetic and knowledgeable Youth Soccer Coach to lead athletic instruction and team-building activities for students in grades 1–8 during a Project Pathfinder’s summer leadership and enrichment camp.

This role is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development, fundamentals-based coaching, and using sports to build confidence, discipline, and teamwork in a structured, mission-driven environment.

Central Alabama Marines-Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to youth development, leadership training, academic enrichment, and strengthening community partnerships across Central Alabama. The organization has no members and its Board of Directors and Officers serve without compensation. The charity is not affiliated with the United States Marine Corps or any other government entity.

About Project Pathfinder

Project Pathfinder is a multi-season initiative designed to expand youth development, civic engagement, and resilience-building opportunities.

The summer program serves approximately 60 military- and veteran-connected students in grades 1–8 and integrates:

  • Leadership development
  • Academic enrichment
  • Athletic programming
  • Character-building activities

Position Summary

The Youth Soccer Coach reports to the Camp Director and is responsible for delivering structured, age-appropriate soccer instruction to mixed-grade groups.

The coach will lead daily sessions focused on skill development, teamwork, physical fitness, and sportsmanship while maintaining a safe, organized, and positive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Coaching & Instruction

  • Lead daily soccer instruction focused on fundamentals, teamwork, and character development
  • Design and implement age-appropriate drills, warm-ups, and skill-building activities
  • Teach core skills including dribbling, passing, shooting, spacing, and defensive positioning
  • Facilitate small-sided games and structured gameplay

Youth Development & Engagement

  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and positive peer interaction
  • Encourage confidence, effort, and skill progression among all participants
  • Adapt coaching methods to meet varying skill levels and age groups

Safety & Supervision

  • Maintain active supervision and accountability of all participants
  • Ensure safe transitions between activities and locations
  • Monitor hydration, weather conditions, and physical well-being
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe athletic environment

Program Support & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Camp Director and staff to ensure cohesive programming
  • Support attendance tracking and basic program documentation
  • Participate in staff meetings, briefings, and trainings

Professional Standards

  • Model professionalism, positive attitude, and strong leadership
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries and conduct with youth participants
  • Follow all organizational safety and conduct policies

Qualifications

Required

  • Prior coaching experience (school teams, community leagues, or youth sports programs)
  • Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals and age-appropriate skill progression
  • Experience working with children in grades 1–8
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and positively influence young athletes
  • Successful completion of background screening

Preferred

  • Coaching certifications (e.g., USSF, AHSAA, NFHS, or equivalent)
  • CPR / First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
  • Experience in youth camps, clinics, or enrichment programs

Training Requirement

  • Required attendance at a one-day, in-person coaching clinic in May 2026 (provided at no cost)

Schedule & Availability

  • Limited planning hours in May 2026
  • Required availability during:
    • June 1–26, 2026
    • July 6–24, 2026
Daily commitment: 3–5 hours (weekdays)

Additional hours may be required for training or special events

Compensation & Classification

This is a seasonal, non-exempt W-2 position paid hourly. Overtime eligibility applies in accordance with applicable labor laws.

Due to the temporary and seasonal nature of this role, this position is not eligible for employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, or paid leave, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
